Surprise!!!
I knew my mom was coming into town for a quick trip. We were excited to have her, even if only for 2 days. We got to drive her up to Dallas (where Eliza got car sick and threw-up...then Preston threw-up from seeing her throw-up and all the adults gagging...being the driver I'm the only one that kept my cool:). We weren't able to stay much and explore, but I thought Dallas had a pretty skyline that definately deserves more attention on another trip.
What I didn't know was that she packed along the bestest little sister in the world! It was the greatest surprise ever! We shopped, ate ice cream, analyzed So You Think You Can Dance, all things girly.
Trying to get a decent shot...

Finds
How could I not love this...
ELIZA magazine. Check it out here. It's a classier, modest fashion magazine without the junk or as much advertising. How cool is that!?! And really...I was sold with the name.
Homemade laundry detergent...
My friend shared this awesome recipe for laundry detergent. I love it because it's economical, smells fresh, and doesn't give my kids a bumpy rash other detergents do.
14 oz. soap (1 or 2 bars of Zote or Dove)
4 cups Arm & Hammer Laundry Grade Baking Soda
4 cups Borax
1-2 scoops Oxi Clean
*Shred the soap small with a cheese grater and then mix all ingredients well. Use 1-2 tablespoons of mixture per load of laundry.
Thrift Books...
This place is for the book lover in me.
Last One...
I really love the posters at this etsy shop...Kantan Designs.

Happy Independence Day!
Today while sitting at the parade I kept getting emotional (good thing I was wearing sunglasses). I was overwhelmed with gratitude for this wonderful country I live in. One of the floats said, "Freedom is not Free." We need to remember and honor those who have paid the price. Thank you to all who serve our country and protect our freedoms. Ezra Taft Benson said, "I testify to you that God's hand has been in our destiny. I testify that freedom as we know it today is being threatened as never before in our history. I further witness that this land—the Americas—must be protected, its Constitution upheld, for this is a land foreordained to be the Zion of our God. He expects us as members of the Church and bearers of His priesthood to do all we can to preserve our liberty." I don't know that I do enough, but today I did teach my kids to wave their flags proudly.
