Cabin Trip

We just went on a cabin trip deep in the Hill Country of Texas. Not quite mountains...but some really pretty hills and valleys. The cabin we stayed in was adorable. There's just really no other word to describe it.

It was small, cozy, charming, vintage.

Complete with an outdoor shower.

The best part was the large property on which to roast marshmallows and hotdogs,

play croquet,

run around,

and explore.

We visited Lost Maples State Park again. We were too early to see the leaves changing, but it was still beautiful.

We had perfect weather. One night it rained hard. We almost got hit by lightning...seriously. A simultaneous flash and crack right outside our window...3 times on 3 different sides of the cabin. We came home to find out our neighbor's home did get hit by lightning. Crazy (sorry guys!). Now Tad can't call me crazy when I think we might get hit:)

Looks so fun to go on a cabin trip in Texas! Where did you go? The pictures remind me a little bit of Utah--and to roast mashmellows on a fire--I bet your kids were in heaven! Don't get to do that much here. We will have to try a Lost Maples trip this year. I've always wanted to go. The family pics are funny too. : )

I miss the Wille's. It's not a very manly thing to admit, but my eyes just welled up when I looked at your blog and I started remembering the good old days.

Jess,
that sounds like a lot of fun. How far away was that? Man, I wish my grandkids lived closer
